Merge, and the first Release
The first Release, Aplo 0.1.0, is out with Trim/Extend to Corner, Trim/Extend to T and one new tool: Merge.
Merge is the tidy-up after the other two. Collinear lines become one line without removing intersections, and adjacent wall groups become one group layer by layer. Nothing is moved to make the pieces fit. The complete set of cases is on the Merge Tool Page.
These three tools came out of the wall work, but modelling the house showed me that they are very useful on their own. I reach for them on loose lines and ordinary groups as often as I do on walls. They don't depend on Aplo knowing what a wall is, and they also work on the walls I've tested from Muzwalls, Medeek and FlexTools.
That changed the order of the project. Aplo walls, openings and doors will come later as Architecture, and that will be paid. The three Modelling tools go first, on their own, and are free. The wall isn't gone, just parked.
I've also been thinking about a Join Geometry tool, which would make sense for the Aplo Wall, however right now with the wall being parked in favour of more modelling tools, SketchUp Pro's Solid Tools do all the work I need.
Now where the extension is available to everyone, I need to resolve the update process. Once the xtension will be available via the Extension Warehouse this will be handled from Sketchup, but I do want to also provide a direct download from applo.studio, so want to handle that delivery/update part as well.
